The Department of Earth, Environmental, and Resource Sciences at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites applications for a postdoctoral position focused on the integration of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence with Water Resources, Hydrology, and or Fluid Dynamics Modeling.

This position will be pivotal in developing fundamental knowledge to enhance model predictive capabilities, interpretability, and augmented skills on applications across various scientific domains. The research will be particularly relevant to information science, hydrology, and computational fluid dynamics.

Position Overview: The postdoc will work under the supervision of Professors Laura V. Alvarez and Hernan A. Moreno as part of the newly established Center for Geospatial Sensing and Sampling of the Environment (GeoSenSE). The primary research will focus on developing and applying cutting-edge A.I. techniques to improve efficient modeling and robot sampling.

Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct cutting-edge research in machine learning and AI applications to hydrologic, hydraulic and environmental systems.
• Develop and implement parallelized deep learning models (and GenAI) with a focus on improving model accuracy and performance.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to integrate findings into broader environmental and geospatial models.

Required Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Earth Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• Expertise in machine learning and deep learning techniques.
• Proficiency in programming using Linux platforms.

Salary and Benefits:
The position offers a salary of $58,656 plus fringe benefits, ensuring competitive compensation for the successful candidate.
