I am seeking MS and PhD graduate students to begin in Summer or Fall 2025 in the Department of Geology & Geophysics at the University of Utah. Graduate student projects will investigate how climate change is impacting streams and groundwater in the Wasatch Mountains, with emphasis on impacts for downstream water resources and the Great Salt Lake. Research topics may include, but are not limited to, exploring: 1) hydrologic and geochemical fluxes in intermittent headwater streams, 2) changing precipitation patterns and effects on groundwater storage and stream source, and 3) the impact of rock glaciers on stream biogeochemistry. Projects will include fieldwork, lab work, and computational analyses. If interested, please email Sara Warix (email hidden; JavaScript is required) with a brief description of your background and interests, as well as a current CV. More information can be found at www.sarawarix.com

Applications are due January 15. Interested applicants are encouraged to attend the University of Utah Geology & Geophysics virtual recruiting events on Friday Nov 1 at 2-3 pm and/or Nov 8 at 1-2 pm MST to learn more about the application process and opportunities/resources within the Geology and Geophysics department (full details on attached pdf).
