This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Chemist 2 position for the Department of Forest Engineering, Resources, and Management at Oregon State University (OSU).
The Cooperative Chemical Analytical Laboratory, CCAL, is an analytical services laboratory operated by the College of Forestry at Oregon State University (OSU).
CCAL specializes in high quality, trace level analysis of nutrients, ions and physical properties of lake, stream, precipitation and groundwater research samples. Precise and accurate results are fundamental at CCAL. CCAL’s Quality Assurance Program is designed to conform to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) surface water chemistry criteria, and is a continuous process that monitors every analysis and procedure performed in the laboratory.
The Chemist 2 performs standard analytical procedures and laboratory tasks in a production environment, as well as more complex analyses requiring interpretation of results and corrective action. Specialized measures are required for high quality, trace level analytical results; the Chemist 2 recommends improvements in procedures and may assist in implementation. The Chemist 2 oversees all phases of laboratory processes to ensure complete cross-training and expedited and orderly sample flow.
