The most competitive candidates will establish a clear connection between their research program and current big-picture questions in the fields of Earth Surface Processes. The specific area of expertise is open and includes the application of analytical, modeling, and field- and lab-based methods in areas including, but not limited to, climate science, engineering geology, hydrogeology, hydrogeophysics, hydrologic sciences, geoarchaeology, geomorphology, pedology and paleopedology, and remote sensing.

Top applicants will also enthusiastically commit to the teaching and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral researchers. Teaching opportunities may include a broad scope of undergraduate and graduate classes such as climate change, hydrogeology, hydrologic processes, hydrology, geomorphology, geostatistics, GIS, remote sensing, and water management. It is expected that teaching responsibilities will include existing undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of Geosciences and new course offerings in the candidate’s area of expertise.
