A part-time instructor is needed to teach asynchronous, online courses within the Bachelors of Applied Science in Water Resources Management. Applicants should have a Master’s or Doctoral degree in a related field, or a Master’s degree and18 graduate hours in Environmental Science or Water Resources. Preferred applicants will have online teaching experience at the community college level. Administration of the learning process (teaching) is to be accomplished in accordance with Federal regulation, Florida State Law, and Florida Gateway College Board Policies. The primary responsibility of an Instructor at FGC is to the student in the classroom. All other activities must be considered secondary in importance. The Instructor is expected to allocate time in a manner as to provide scheduled classroom hours and office hours during which the students may have access to the Instructor.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:
Ability to present information in a coherent manner and fairly evaluate student retention of that information in online and/or face-to-face formats. Computer literate. Experience using learning management systems, MS Office software, and videoconferencing tools.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Master’s Degree in Environmental Science, Hydrology, Water and Soil Science, Agricultural Systems (Water Specialty), Water Resource Policy and Management, Public Health, or a Master’s degree and 18 graduate hours in Environmental Science or Water Resources.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Doctoral Degree in aforementioned disciplines. State issued potable drinking water treatment and/or
domestic waste water treatment operator’s license. Willingness to teach students from non-traditional settings such as prisons or on-site training environments.
