Call for Workshops and Breakout Sessions: 2023 CUAHSI Biennial
Proposal Evaluation Begins 2.1.2023
We invite proposals for short workshops or breakout sessions for the 2023 CUAHSI Biennial Meeting.
This year’s meeting theme is ‘Discovering New Horizons in Water Science.’ Workshops offer meeting attendees an opportunity to learn new skills through interactive instruction, training, and informal discussion. These sessions are more interactive and less formal than the invited research presentation sessions and can be formatted in a variety of ways.
Workshop blocks are two hours long and will take place from 1:00-3:00 pm PT on Tuesday, June 13. Topics can range from training on software or tools, skill building, proposal writing, grant management, community visioning discussions, etc.
Submit a Proposal:
To submit a proposal for a workshop or breakout session, please compile the following into a single document and send to Emily Clark at email hidden; JavaScript is required:
Submitter name, email, and affiliation.
Workshop or breakout session title.
Instructors and affiliations.
Brief description (1-2 paragraphs).
Objectives.
Intended audience and minimum/maximum capacity. Total estimated meeting attendance is ~150-180 people; workshop size is usually 15- 30 participants but larger groups can be accommodated. We will ask meeting attendees to pre-register for workshops so that instructors have an estimate of general interest.
Space or equipment requirements (classroom seating, outdoor space, audio/visual needs). We can easily accommodate lecture or classroom style meeting space. Less traditional meeting space or outside meeting space may be possible but should be discussed in advance.
Cost needed to support your workshop. Workshops are generally included within the cost of the meeting registration fee, but it may be possible to apply an additional workshop fee in some cases. Please provide justification for any additional costs associated with your workshop.
Proposal Evaluation:
There are a limited number of workshop spaces available. Proposals will be evaluated on:
Clearly defined objectives that can realistically be accomplished within the 120 minute timeframe.
Perceived value to meeting attendees.
Feasibility of workshop technical and logistical needs.
Connection to the meeting theme.
Submission Deadline:
Proposal evaluation will begin on February 1, 2023 and will continue on a rolling basis until all workshop slots are filled. Thank you and we hope to see you at the Biennial!
