Prepping for the field season can be challenging and overwhelming! It can be easy to put off thinking about data storage, organization, and publication until the field season is over. However, waiting until the field season is done and the data have been collected can make taking that next step towards sharing data feel daunting.
In this workshop, we will share tips about including a data management plan in your field season planning to make publishing your data a breeze. We will walk through examples of taking a field-based project from conception to data publication and how you can set yourself up for success before a single data point is collected. Topics will include what metadata is critical for data publication, ways to track and manage data as it is being collected, and common approaches for organizing files and creating tidy data.
This free webinar-style workshop is open to anyone and will consist of lectures and demos followed by plenty of time for attendees to ask questions. It will be recorded and posted on the CUAHSI YouTube Channel.
After this workshop, stay tuned! In the fall we will be hosting another post-field season workshop on how CUAHSI can help you make your data citable and available to a diverse group of stakeholders, from researchers to managers.
