Soliciting Nominations for CUAHSI Board Members

Posted Sep 13, 2024

The Nomination Committee (Sarah H. Ledford, Darren Ficklin, and Amy Burgin) are soliciting nominations from the CUAHSI community for the election of six Directors to serve terms from January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2027. Based on the new bylaws change, up to five of these positions may be filled by At-Large Directors (do not need to be affiliated with a Member Institution) and at least one must be filled by someone working at an active Member Institution. The Nomination Committee can help anyone interested in running confirm if they are at a member institution, if their institution is active, and help inactive institutions navigate paying their dues to become active.

Board Directors are the fiduciaries of CUAHSI who steer the organization towards a sustainable future by adopting sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial management policies, as well as making sure CUAHSI has adequate resources to advance its mission. The mission and vision of CUAHSI and the current Strategic Plan are available for all to see. Board membership typically requires attending 1-2 meetings per month, with about 4-8 hours of time per month. There are two one-and-a-half day Board meetings each year (January and June) where in-person participation is encouraged if possible.

We welcome self-nominations and nominations of others. We welcome applications for nominations for members of our hydrologic community from a wide range of perspectives, career stage, gender, gender identity, race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sexual orientation, disability, and other identities. Especially welcome are those with experience in fundraising and non-profit fiscal management, the non-profit legal realm, along with those from the wider water science community who have not previously been eligible to run for the Board, including government and non-profit employees.

If you are nominating yourself, please let us briefly know why you are interested in the Director position and what strengths you feel you would bring to the Board. If you are nominating someone else, we will reach out to that person to gauge interest and availability, so please make sure to include an email address of your nominee.

Following the CUAHSI Code of Conduct policy, all nominees will be required to complete a disclosure form before they are put on the ballot.

Applications for nominations must be submitted no later than September 30, 2024 to Sarah Ledford at email hidden; JavaScript is required.
