CUAHSI Member Representatives Vote to Pass Amendments to Bylaws
Posted Sep 26, 2024
On September 8, 2024 a vote on amendments to the CUAHSI Bylaws was passed with 95% favorable votes.
We had an outstanding level of participation: 96% of member institutions participated, and the proposed changes were approved with 95% of the vote. Thank you to all who participated. We had an opportunity to connect with many CUAHSI representatives through this process, and we are now working on a secondary effort to process requests and update membership records as a result of communications received. CUAHSI staff will follow up should we need additional information from your institution.
As a reminder, the approved bylaws amendments will expand eligibility for membership on the CUAHSI Board of Directors and address other governance changes deemed necessary for sustainability of the organization, including:
- Up to five Board Member positions will now be open to individuals with essential expertise—such as fiscal management, legal expertise, and fundraising.
- The Board can now nominate replacements for vacated positions until the next annual election, reducing the need for frequent Special Elections.
- Institutions will have a simpler process for changing their member representatives, allowing greater flexibility and continuity.
These changes will help CUAHSI better support its growing portfolio and enhance our ability to serve the water science community.
Thank you for your active participation in this important process and for your ongoing commitment to CUAHSI. Your engagement ensures that we continue to effectively serve the water science community. We hope you will stay connected as we move forward.
